  • Bittersweet Ending: There are several instances of this.
    • The Red Lotus have been defeated. Most of them have either been captured or killed, but it is possible some of them escaped like they did following the failed attempt to kill Iroh II.
    • Korra is finally free from the Red Lotus and has reunited with her parents, but the affects the Red Lotus had on her psyche will still be present additionally, she may have to deal with the fact the press will link her to being affiliated with the Red Lotus.
    • The police are aware that Mako tortured Manu to obtain information about the Red Lotus' plans. While Mako might not get into any legal trouble for the time being, there could be problems he may have to deal with later on.
    • While Asami is happy to see Korra reunited with her parents, she is saddened by the fact Korra won't be living with her anymore. However, she is happy that Korra left her a note which makes it clear to her that their friendship will remain strong.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • While her fate was left unknown in the previous chapter, it is revealed Ming-Hua will die from her injuries, so she will die a year before Harmonic Convergence rather than after it.
    • Zaheer releases his spirit into the Spirit World which will result in his body dying in the real world, unlike his canon counterpart who did not die. However, it is possible his spirit might make appearances in the Spirit World.
  • Declaration of Protection: Bolin along with Asami tell Korra that if anything happens to her again in the future, they will help her.
  • Defeat Means Respect: Kuvira is on both sides of this trope.
    • Kuvira is shown to greatly respect Korra and does not have any ill feelings toward her after being defeated during Chapter Fifteen.
    • Mako respects Kuvira for defeating him, and she in turn shows some respect for him due to how he tortured Manu to obtain information the Red Lotus' plans and putting a monkey wrench in them.
  • Dénouement Episode: This chapter provides an aftermath of what happened following Korra defeating Zaheer's gang along with a few other Red Lotus members being capture. Additionally, the chapter establishes and foreshadows possible future plotlines for the Saga storyline.
  • It's All My Fault: Both Korra and Asami blame themselves for what happened.
  • Humble Hero: Korra states she hopes she can protect the city that Avatar Aang build, and she hopes to do even half as good as he did.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: This trope is discussed and zigzagged. Korra tells her friends part of the reason she did not telling them she is the Avatar was due to not wanting anything to change. Bolin tells her that they will always be her friend, but some things will change. However, he assures her that things will change for the better since she does not have to be afraid anymore, and they know her secret.
  • Pet the Dog: A few instances:
    • Asami promises Bolin she will help him with any problems Mako might have since she still sees Bolin as a friend despite being unsure if she still sees Mako as a friend.
    • Kuvira tells Mako that she believes he did the right thing in torturing Manu to help the Avatar.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Mako gets in trouble for torturning Manu during Chapter Fourteen even though it served a good purpose.
    • Asami still has some problems with the fact Mako tortured Manu.
    • Even though Korra's healing saved Asami's life, Asami still needs medical attention due to the fact Korra was not able to completely heal her since it was only her first time and the stab wounds have caused her to have some difficulty breathing.
    • Tenzin and other authority figures don't want to reveal Korra to the public yet because it is likely they will connect her to the Red Lotus terrorist attacks.
    • Unalaq and his family are still recovering from the attack Korra herself participated in during Chapter Fifteen.
    • As happy as Korra and her family are to be together again, things are a little awkward for them due to the fourteen year separation. Senna even lampshades herself that while they can be a family again, they can never get back the years they lost.
  • Worth It: Both Asami and Bolin say what they went through was worth it to see Korra live through her ordeal and reunited her with her parents.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When Korra dismisses herself as a coward, Asami tells her she isn't, and Bolin tells her that he understands that the Red Lotus messed with her head for a long time, which would cause her to have problems.
