Recap / The Really Loud House S 1 E 1 The Macho Man With The Plan

Go To

Tonight is the Rip Hardcore Midnight Marathon, and it also happens that tomorrow is Lynn Sr.'s half-birthday. With a newly-instated curfew getting in the way of the marathon, Lincoln schemes to get Lynn Sr. out of the house to enjoy the marathon, and in the process must learn what being a good man really is.

Tropes:

  • Birthday Episode: This episode celebrates Lynn Sr.'s half-birthday.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Clyde points out that the simple solution to resolve Lincoln's conflict would be to just ask Lynn Sr. to change the bedtime rule. Unfortunately, since he's in the middle of fixing Vanzilla, it's not really a good idea to ask him anyway.
  • Doom It Yourself: Lynn Sr. spends the day before his half-birthday attempting to clean and repair Vanzilla. Somehow, he ends up disassembling a good chunk of it, all just to replace the windshield wiper fluid.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: Lincoln's scheme to watch the Rip Hardcore Midnight Marathon backfires when Lisa's robot malfunctions due to Lucy jumpscaring the server, at which point he hears how disappointed his parents are that he and the sisters lied to them. Lincoln and Clyde decide not to watch the marathon and get their badges after realizing how selfish they were, and come up with a plan to make things right: they secretly decorate the house to throw Lynn a surprise half-birthday party.
  • Non-Indicative Name: The Macho Man badges are not gender specific. As the announcer puts it, "Rip Hardcore isn't just super ripped; he's super woke. And super ripped."
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Lisa disguises Todd as Lincoln by just slapping a white wig, one of Lincoln's polos, and a paper cutout of Lincoln's face on the robot. The parents don't notice until Lucy jumpscares the waiter, who accidentally spills water on Todd, causing the robot to malfunction.
  • Speak in Unison: All eleven siblings declare in unison that they know tomorrow is Lynn Sr.'s half-birthday.
