Recap / The Real Ghostbusters Selimer 7 Quickslimer Messenger Service

Go To

Slimer is reading, when he hears the ice cream truck. He goes to his money box but has no money, so he rummages through first the couch, then the clothes of the newly-arrived Winston. Still with no money, Slimer chases down the ice cream lady and tells her his problem, then she leaves.

Slimer then runs into Rudy, who runs a messenger service, and offers to have him run it with him. Slimer accepts, but Dweeb (who is spying on him with Elizabeth) decides to exploit Slimer having a job as a way of catching him. He phones the messenger service and has Slimer deliver a message to the Sedgewick.

He delivers it, but then comes across a package that's connected to a cinderblock on the ceiling. However, the block doesn't fall on Slimer, who leaves, before Dweeb and Elizabeth see it fall through the floors. Dweeb then has Slimer deliver another message and sets up a complicated trap in the room, but Slimer again doesn't get caught. Not only that, but Dweeb and Elizabeth get caught instead.

The ice cream lady (whose name is revealed to be Chilly) comes back, so Slimer convinces Rudy to pay him. Rudy doesn't pay enough, but luckily, Slimer wins a lot of money that goes through the phone, so he flies off to get his ice cream. He then buys four ice pops from Chilly.

This episode provides examples of

  • Ectoplasm: Slimer gets slime on the Chilly's hand when they shake hands.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Instead of entering the elevator through the closed doors, or fusing through the floors of the building without using the elevator, Slimer exits the building and rides an imaginary elevator.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The second trap Dweeb sets for Slimer ends up catching Dweeb himself (plus Elizabeth) instead.
  • Ode to Food: Chilly sings about ice cream while driving her truck.
  • Rube Goldberg Device: The second trap Dweeb sets consists of an anvil that falls onto a jelly donut, that sprays jelly onto a pan balance, that goes up, sending a miniature Statue of Liberty to trigger a rocket, that explodes near a bowling ball on a plank, sending the ball rolling into a basket, which pulls a rope that turns on a machine that snaps the victim up.
  • Say My Name: Winston yells, "Slimer!" when Slimer is looking through his clothes for money.
  • Unconventional Food Usage: Dweeb uses a jelly donut as part of a Rube Goldberg Device.
