When Oscar mistakes the date of a costume party and can't get a costume in time, Felix takes him down to the basement to retrieve a suit of armor he saw down there. Unfortunately, they and Nancy get locked into the cellar. Can the trio find some way to escape, and will they ever get to the costume party?
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Coordinated Clothes: Felix and Gloria agreed to use a couples costume, the old angel/devil pairing.
- Dumbwaiter Ride: When Felix mentions a dumbwaiter in the corner, Oscar insists that they have to try it, despite Felix and Nancy's protests that it's a century old and it wouldn't be safe. Nancy offers to go as she's lighter than Oscar, but Felix, insisting that it's no place for a lady, volunteers himself.
- Green-Eyed Monster: When Felix reaches the first apartment in the dumbwaiter, the inhabitants turn out to be an elderly woman and her elderly jealous husband. The man gets too worked up for Felix to get help. Even worse, the man later asks that Felix be arrested for molesting his wife.
- How We Got Here: At the beginning of the episode, after Murray gets Oscar, Nancy, and Felix out of the cellar and the jealous old man insists Felix be arrested for molesting his wife, the rest of the episode goes into a flashback as to how the trio ended up trapped and where the supposed charge against Felix came from.
- Inconvenient Itch: After Felix puts most of the armor on him, Oscar comments that he hopes he doesn't get an itch.
- Smarter Than They Look: Oscar comes up with an idea to get them out of the basement. Locating the main heater pipe, he decides to overheat the apartments so someone will come to fix it. Felix declares that sometimes he doesn't give Oscar enough credit. Unfortunately, the heating pipe does nothing but leak steam.
- Time-Passes Montage: After Felix puts on a record, there's a half-transparent montage of things the trio do while trapped in the basement: talking, drinking wine, Felix and Oscar both dancing with Nancy and a mannequin, and Nancy and Oscar playing hide-and-seek and sharing a kiss when she finds him.
- Tragically Misguided Favor:
- When Oscar forgets that the costume party is that evening, Felix takes him down to the apartment's basement to retrieve a suit of armor that he saw down there. They and Nancy get locked in.
- Oscar thinks this is little more than an inconvenience, because the basement key is in his pants, which he had to take off to put on the armor. Felix reveals that he took the pants to wash them.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Subverted. Oscar doesn't pay any attention to Felix's devil costume even when the cape is being waved in front of his face. However, it turns out he was purposely avoiding the subject.
