  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Gonzo falls madly in love with Madeline after she compliments him. Kermit explains that since Gonzo doesn't get complimented often, he tends to go overboard when he is.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The lobster the Swedish Chef planned to cook is saved by a gang of Spanish bandito-lobsters armed with guns.
  • Brick Joke: Gonzo's magician's tuxedo, complete with trick sleeves.
  • Clamshells as Mouths: Gonzo's crazy act of the week is Eric the Yodeling Clam, whose shell opens and shuts as he yodels.
  • Death Glare: Fozzie gets these from the pigs when he finishes "The Pig Got Up and Slowly Walked Away".
Fozzie: [nervously] Uh... it... it's just a song. Don't... please don't take it personal. Oh, boy...! [He hurries off the stage with a rowing motion, using his ukulele as a paddle.]
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Sam insists he can't let such a distinguished, dignified actress as Madeline do the show, until he sees her don Groucho glasses and a goofy wig.
    Sam: You're on.
  • "Pop!" Goes the Human:
Muppet Newsman: Reports are coming in from all over the world that television news reporters are blowing up. These unlikely rumors have — [BOOM!]
  • Red Live Lobster: The Swedish Chef attempts to cook a lobster (which is red prior to being put in the pot), but it is saved by a group of Spanish-speaking bandito lobsters wielding pistols (who are also red).
  • Shameful Shrinking: In the "Happy Girl Meets a Monster" sketch, Madeline is in a park talking about how beautiful everything is, when a monster comes and starts destroying whatever she mentions as being beautiful. She turns to the monster and tells him how horrible he is... and how that makes him beautiful, and as she goes on how beautiful his horribleness is, the monster shrinks down to the size of a crochet ball. She tells the audience how "sometimes you have to talk your problems down to size" before hitting the monster away with her umbrella.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: In the "Happy Girl Meets a Monster" sketch, Madeline is in a park, marveling at how beautiful everything is. Along comes a monster, portrayed by Doglion, who starts destroying each beautiful thing she mentions. Then she turns to the monster and starts telling him how beautiful he is in his awfulness. The monster starts shrinking from embarrassment until he is small enough for Madeline to hit him away with her umbrella.
Madeline: Sometimes you have to talk your troubles down to a size where you can handle them.

Statler: We got our money's worth tonight.
Waldorf: But we paid nothing.
Statler: That's what we got!
