- Conflict Ball: Dougal grabs it due to a misunderstanding and he accuses Ermintrude of shouting and screaming at Mr. Rusty and Brian. He refuses to let her explain, causing the two to fall out where they are not speaking.
- Death Glare: Florence gives one to Dougal after overhearing Fly telling Dougal that he couldn't deliver the apology message to Ermintrude.
- Feud Episode: The entire premise of the episode has Dougal and Ermintrude falling out due to a misunderstanding and they refuse to speak to each other. Their feud makes everybody in the garden upset.Florence: It's wrong to fall out with friends, Dougal. It upsets everybody.
Dougal: Well, it doesn't upset me. - Heel Realization: Dougal feels ashamed when he learns that Ermintrude was actually helping Mr. Rusty and Brian.Mr. Rusty: Uh-oh, I think Dougal has gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick here.
- Loose Lips: After being told to apologise to Ermintrude by Florence and with her inside, Dougal instead sends Fly to deliver his apology message to Ermintrude. However, Fly returns to tell Dougal that he couldn't deliver the message with Dougal trying to shush Fly as he didn't Florence, who was gardening nearby, to overhear. However, Fly couldn't keep it down where Florence stops what she's doing and realises that Dougal didn't apologise to Ermintrude in person.
- "Oh, Crap!" Smile: After Florence overheard Fly telling Dougal that he couldn't deliver the apology message to Ermintrude, Dougal grins rather sheepishly as Florence glares at him.
- Ordered Apology: Florence sends Dougal to apologise to Ermintrude after she found out that it was all Dougal's misunderstanding.Dougal: How was I to know that Ermintrude was actually helping Brian and Mr. Rusty?
Florence: You must apologise to Ermintrude, immediately!
Dougal: Oh, I'll think about it.
Florence: (sternly) Dougal.
Dougal: Oh, alright, alright!
Florence: (as she goes inside her house) The sooner the better, too.- However, when she went inside her house, Dougal sends Fly to give an apology message to Ermintrude. It fails anyway and Florence is more displeased with Dougal when she finds out before Dougal goes to apologise to Ermintrude in person.
- Out-of-Context Eavesdropping: Had Dougal stayed a bit longer to see from the distance that Ermintrude was actually helping Mr. Rusty and Brian, he wouldn't have fallen out with her for no reason.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After Florence overheard Fly telling Dougal about the failed apology message to Ermintrude, Fly sees that Dougal is going to be in trouble with Florence for not apologising to Ermintrude in person and quickly zips away.
- Tell Him I'm Not Speaking to Him: Because Dougal and Ermintrude are not speaking, they had to use Dylan and Brian to send messages back and forth.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Florence was cross with Dougal when she finds out that Dougal didn't actually apologise to Ermintrude and he only sent Fly to deliver an apology message. She does convince him otherwise.Florence: So, you didn't apologise to Ermintrude after all?
Dougal: No, but I sent a message.
Florence: Which Ermintrude never got.
Dougal: Oh, well, I tried my best.
Florence: Dougal, you got to sort out this misunderstanding for everybody's sake.
Dougal: Ohh, in the doghouse again. (Florence gives Dougal a knowing smile) Oh, alright, alright, I'll go and find Ermintrude!
