"End Of The Curse" is the premier episode in the second season of The Golden Girls.
Blanche believes she is pregnant. When she turns out not to be pregnant, but going through menopause, she believes her life is over. Meanwhile, the girls breed minks for fur.
Tropes:
- Aerith and Bob: Rose names the minks Fluffy, Muffy, Buffy, and... Joanne.
- All Periods Are PMS: Discussed. Blanche starting menopause leads to the four of them to compare their experiences. Dorothy's PMS was so bad that she enjoyed menopause, while Rose and Blanche apparently had no problem with it.
- Hope Spot: Just as the girls give up on the thought of breeding minks for fur as the episode is ending, two of the minks start to have intercourse. The girls start to feel jubilant over the prospect of reviving the fur-breeding business... until Dorothy points out that the two going at it are both male.
- Pregnancy Scare: Blanche believes that she's pregnant and spends the first part of the episode trying to work out who the father might be. As it turns out, she's not pregnant — she's entering menopause.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: The girls get four minks in the episode in the hope of getting them to breed for the sake of starting a fur-trading business. Two of them actually start to have sex with each other as the episode is concluding, except those two happen to be both male, as Dorothy points out to the others.
- There Are No Therapists: Averted. Blanche sees one to deal with her anxiety over beginning menopause.
