Holden and Miller head toward a mysterious location where the protomolecule is blind, while Naomi and Alex try to stabilize things in orbit.

- Character Death: Wei, whom Amos is forced to kill in self-defense.
- Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Elvi and Miller, in his mechanical form, falling into the black sphere.
- Fingore: Murtry catches Amos by surprise and shoots two of Amos' fingers.
- Godzilla Threshold: Alex comes up with a plan to gain some altitude that involves using the Roci's railgun as a makeshift rocket.
- Improvised Microgravity Maneuvering: The rail gun has a dedicated battery supply; separate from the main ship. When there isn't energy for the thrusters to boost the Roci into a higher orbit the rail gun is used to make up the difference.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: Murtry monologues to Holden that he's too soft to bring civilization to a frontier. Holden's quick draw is better, but he refuses to finish off Murtry. Instead, he takes Murtry prisoner to stand trial - thusly acting in the interest of civilization justice.
