Tropes present in this episode:

  • Amusement Park: The climatic scene, featuring the Dukes' final confrontation with Lulu's kidnappers, takes place at a closed amusement park.
  • Damsel in Distress: Lulu, although she clearly does not fit the stereotype of the young, beautiful woman.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Lulu, who had grown popular with fans particularly during the fourth and fifth seasons, when she was firmly established as a friend of the Duke family. Specifically, the episode spotlights the relationship between Boss and his beloved "Sugarpuddin' Dumplin'" Lulu would continue to be a regular recurring character for the remainder of the series.
  • I Have Your Wife: The kidnappers hoping to extort Boss out of $1 million contact him in person to inform him that they have Lulu and of their demands, and that any rescue attempt by the Duke boys will result in her death.
  • Missing White Woman Syndrome: Inverted – the Duke family shows no hesitation in coming to Lulu's rescue (she's established as a close family friend) and making sure her captors are held accountable.
  • Unlikely Hero: In the climatic scene, when Rosco and Enos are helping escort the now-arrested villains to their police cars, the leader of the group manages to slip out of Rosco's grasp. Bo and Luke are unable to catch up with him immediately, but it is Boss who – in the only time during the series run – uses his head to ram his wife's kidnapper in the gut, knocking him down and allowing the Duke boys to easily subdue him. Lulu is thankful and remarks that Boss, as her hero, is just like Robert Redford.
