Chapter 46: History Lesson 2: The Sequel

- Beware the Nice Ones: Despite his usually being polite and friendly, Fishlegs refuses to let Astrid go through with her plan to kidnap Mirabel, and even goes so far as to tell her off for it.Fishlegs: THAT'S ENOUGH! This is not who we are. This isn't who YOU are! And I will not stand by and let you harm and innocent girl!
- Blatant Lies: Fishlegs excuses Astrid's attempts to kidnap Mirabel as her having No Sense of Personal Space, and that brandishing weapons is a traditional Berk greeting. Since Mirabel doesn't really know them, she cautiously accepts this.
- Epic Fail: When Astrid tries going after Mirabel while she's alone in her house, Casita spits her out the front door at every attempt.
- Good Cop/Bad Cop: Astrid attempts to kidnap Mirabel and breaks into Casita multiple times (only to be thrown out each time) in order to get to Hiccup. Fishlegs politely knocks on the door, apologizes to Mirabel for Astrid's behavior, and manages to get her to take them to Hiccup.
- Happily Adopted: When Fishlegs asks Hiccup how he knows the Madrigals, Hiccup claims that, at some point in the past year, they became his family. Given Stoick's attitude at the time, Astrid and Fishlegs decide not to repeat this to the chief.
- Insult Backfire: When Hiccup states that he's basically become part of Mirabel's family, Astrid tries to mock him by calling him "Hiccup Madrigal". This actually brightens his mood.
- Mythology Gag: Hiccup tells Astrid and Fishlegs the history of the Encanto using the (slightly changed) lyrics of "Welcome to the Family Madrigal".
- Pass the Popcorn: By Astrid's fifth kidnapping attempt, Mirabel has grabbed a drink.
- Violence Is Not an Option: Astrid's plan of kidnapping Mirabel falls flat on its face, the two of them not making any progress until Fishlegs tries being courteous and polite.
