They say that "Three's a crowd". So four must be a whole parade.
Ms. Chalice returns and is in need of a place to stay, avoiding the townsfolk she previously charmed, but can Cuphead and Mugman trust her after she left them to the police at the Cookie Factory?

Tropes

  • Brick Joke: The brothers seem to have improved their dancing skills, and Elder Kettle seems to be charmed by the show... but refuses to give them cookies. The main reason for them hanging out with Ms. Chalice was to learn how to get said cookies.
  • The Cameo: Hilda Berg appears as a zeppelin while the trio drive to the Dance Contest.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Cuphead insists that Chalice is their friend, and Mugman argues that they don't know anything about her, besides she abandoned them to get arrested and never came to see them. Cuphead comments happily, "That's two things!"
  • Continuity Nod: The cups are still mad at Chalice for ditching them at the cookie factory in "In Charm's Way" and they inform Chalice that because of her, they had to spend time in prison, as seen in "Jailbroken". Most of the angry mob that's after Chalice are characters that were duped by Chalice into giving away free stuff in "In Charm's Way"
  • Everyone Has Standards: Played for Laughs. The angry mob invades the Cups' house to claim Ms. Chalice only for Cuphead to hush them and point to a sleeping Elder Kettle. The mob agrees to take their grievances outside.
  • Flat Scare: Ghost Chalice gives an adorable "boo" before disappearing. It was still enough to scare the boys silly.
  • I Lied: Double Subverted: Chalice revealed that she lied about the angry mob coming after her, and later confessed that she lied about lying about the angry mob when they finally appear at their doorstep.
  • Internal Reveal: The brothers learn about Chalice being a ghost.
  • Karma Houdini: Chalice manages to escape thanks to the boys' help and her ghost abilities. To her credit, she stays long enough to make sure the mob doesn't hurt the boys before she leaves.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Chalice finds out the hard way that the townspeople aren't very happy with her charming them out of free stuff.
  • Literal Metaphor: Mugman discovers that Chalice "ghosted" him and Cuphead while confronting the angry mob. They soon find out she's a literal ghost.
  • Overly Long Gag: Cuphead, Mugman, and Ms. Chalice list different nicknames for the word "prison", soon stopping at "hoobah-doobah".
  • Tempting Fate: Mugman heads to the door, sarcastically expecting Chalice to show up, and she does. Later, he jokingly expects the angry mob that is hunting down Chalice to show up, and they do.
  • Torches and Pitchforks: In classic Angry Mob fashion.
  • Worth It: The boys can't argue that the delicious cookies in the cookie factory were worth getting arrested for.
