"Indescribable Compassion" is the sixth episode of season 1 of The Chosen.

After witnessing the healing of a leper on the road to Capernaum, a woman forces her paralytic friend through the crowd to meet Jesus.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Acting Unnatural: Said by Gaius to Matthew. As Matthew points out, "I am natural. I look exactly how I feel."
  • And I'm the Queen of Sheba: Simon asks Little James what he did before he met Jesus, and Little James replies that he was on his way to Jerusalem to join the 288 temple choir. Simon replies, "And I was Caesar's favorite gladiator."
  • Held Gaze: As Jesus is escaping from the Roman soldiers, for a moment he locks eyes with Matthew and they clearly make quite an impression on each other.
  • Pass the Popcorn: Two children (Abigail and Joshua from the third episode) brought a bowl of snacks to hear Jesus speak at Zebedee's house. Matthew at first refuses their offer to share, but reaches over and grabs some when Jesus heals the paralyzed man from the roof.
  • Taxman Takes the Winnings: The windfall from the huge catch of fish is used to pay Simon and Andrew's tax debt (2 years and 7 weeks worth, plus penalties).
  • There Was a Door: Justified when the paralyzed man's friends tore a hole in Zebedee's ceiling, as the entrances to the building were crowded with people blocking the way to the person they knew could heal their friend. Not that Zebedee was particularly thrilled about the hole in his roof.
  • Throwing Off the Disability: Jesus heals paralyzed man. Then we see the formerly paralyzed man walking slowly through the chaotic crowd.
