Plot
Sheldon would rather join a video game marathon with the guys than attend a birthday party for Amy's aunt.
Tropes:
- Blatant Lies: Sheldon calling it a "happy coincidence" that "the right way" also happens to be "[his] way."
- Calling the Old Man Out: "Sheldon Cooper, I've got a bone to pick with you, and I'm about to do it in front of all your friends."
- Cannot Tell a Joke: Averted. Once Sheldon catches on to the correct meaning of the whip-crack app, he asks Leonard if a particular moment is the right one for it. Leonard thinks he may have missed the moment, but it turns out it was still funny.
- Distinction Without a Difference: This exchange:
Sheldon: When's the last time I asked you to do something for me?
Penny: Yesterday. You made me look in your ear to see if there was a ladybug in it.
Sheldon: When is the last time I asked you to do something that wasn't a medical emergency?
Penny: Yesterday. You made me look in your ear to see if there was a ladybug in it.
- Full-Name Ultimatum: Mrs. Wolowitz calls for Howard Joel Wolowitz when she comes to the apartment looking for him.
- Girls Have Cooties: Shades of this when Howard announces that Bernadette will be joining their video game adventure.
- Henpecked Husband: Referenced repeatedly note it's alternate title is "Whipped" with a phone app that makes a whip-crack sound effect.
- Lysistrata Gambit: Penny's first suggestion to Amy on how to deal with Sheldon.
Penny: Girlfriend 101: you withhold sex from him. But that only works once Sheldon reaches puberty.
- Sickeningly Sweet: Sheldon's response to Bernadette's line "My Howie-Wowie has an owie!"
Sheldon: That is the most sickeningly sweet thing I have ever experienced, and I am sipping Kool-Aid through a Red Vine.
- The Woobie: Invoked in-universe: Raj complains that all he wanted was to have an old-school boys' weekend of video gaming before everyone else got partnered off, and everyone takes pity on him and let them have it.
- Yiddish as a Second Language: Mrs. Wolowitz spent a half hour walking up the farkakte stairs.
