Recap / The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin S1E5 "Escape from the Treacherous Mountain"

Go To

Having finally rescued Aruzia, Teddy and his friends continue on their journey to find the Treasure of Grundo and escape the Hard to Find City.

This episode provides examples of:

  • All for Nothing: Tweeg's efforts to obtain the Treasure of Grundo fail when he and L.B. realize that it was actually just an illusion.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Wooly What's-It of all characters saves the day when he climbs up the Treacherous Mountains and destroy the Gutangs' Flying Machines.
  • Chekhov's Gun: When the Gutangs launch an attack on the airship, Teddy comes up with the idea of using Grubby's Roosted Root Stew as a projectile on their Flying Machines. Later on, he uses the stew to prevent the airbag from being deflated.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: After climbing the Treacherous Mountains, Wooly decides to destroy many of the Gutang Flying Machines with ease.
  • Disney Death: Though Teddy and his friends assume that Wooly died when he crashed along with the last Gutang Flying Machine, it eventually turns out that Wooly was temporarily knocked out.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Once Teddy regains the real map that Tweeg left on the airship in the previous episode, he tells Gimmick and Grubby that the old lady that came on the ship really was Tweeg in disguise.
  • Mineral MacGuffin: Once Teddy and his friends enter the treasure vault, they discover that it contains six crystals: imagination, honesty, trust, bravery, friendship and freedom.
  • Oh, Crap!: Teddy, Gimmick, Arin, Aruzia and Grubby when they realize that the Gutangs have sounded the alarm.
  • Secret Test of Character: After Teddy connects his half of the medallion with the other half, the inscription reads "Only the Pure of Spirit May Find the Treasure of Knowledge." This leads the heroes to discover that said treasure is actually six crystals.
  • Use Your Head: At the beginning of the episode, Grubby encounters a Gutang after inadvertently bumping into him. When the Gutang asks for Grubby's name, the latter headbutts him off the ledge.
