Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) S03E42 "Mister Ogg Goes to Town"

Go To

Shredder and Krang look for a device that can help them run the Technodrome and they open a portal to Dimension Z. Unfortunately, they wind up bringing back an obnoxious reality warping entity named Mister Ogg, who proceeds to wreak havoc on New York City.

Tropes:

  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Mister Ogg cares more about the condition of a priceless porcelian vase (mainly because he thinks they're delicious) over the massive amount of property damage his Mad God antics cause. When told that Krang is evil and he wants to conquer the planet, Ogg claims that he's "an overachiever" and doesn't seem to understand why that's wrong.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Simultaneously downplayed, lampshaded, and justified. When the Turtles learn one of the reasons Ogg came up to Earth's surface after coming through Krang's dimensional portal was to find more thousand-year-old antique porcelain to eat, Donatello asks why he can't just use his powers to make more whenever he wants. Ogg points out the rather obvious fact that if he "just made it" it wouldn't really be a thousand years old.
  • Expy: Contextually, Mister Ogg is an expy of the Superman villain Mister Mxyzptlk. He also bares an aesthetic resemblance to the Paul Reubens character Pee-Wee Herman.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Mister Ogg has a taste for Porcelan (as in the pottery) and eats the Shredder's entire collection.
  • Mad God: Mister Ogg is a transdimensional Reality Warper with a penchant for mischief and he causes all of the chaos in the episode for no reason other than his amusement.
