"Video Game Release"

The store gears up for the release of highly-anticipated video game Barbarian's Gate 3. Amy and Jonah try to sneak a copy and in the process discover a tunnel under the store; Garrett is excited that renowned voice actor Erick Evans is doing a store visit; Glenn and Sandra decide to stand up for themselves.

Tropes:

  • Artistic License: What can be seen of Barbarian's Gate 3 looks nothing like what a big release title would look like in 2018. The promotional graphics look much older than that.
  • Cosplay: The video game fans are dressed up as characters when lining up to buy the game.
  • Grew a Spine: Attempted by local doormats Glenn and Sandra; they are harsher to customers and demand they follow store rules. This backfires when a breastfeeding mother whom they shoo away returns with a larger group of breastfeeding moms.
  • Hypocritical Humor: A mom complains about her child being exposed to breastfeeding women, but is okay with him carrying around a violent prop that resembles a gory head impaled on a spike.
  • My Little Panzer: Amy and Jonah play with a variety of dangerous toys from the recalls bins, such as silly string that burns. They stop playing with a pair of toy guns when one of its toy bullets breaks through the wall.
  • Nutritional Nightmare: The recalled Sugar Logs contain 300 grams of sugar (as Jonah points out, a bottle of soda only contains about 40 grams) and according to Jonah, "Most of the ingredients are just colors."
  • Secret Underground Passage: There's a secret tunnel connecting the manager's office to the merchandise cage.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stereotype Reaction Gag: Garrett compares meeting his idol, voice actor Erick Evans to Mateo meeting Jennifer Lopez. Mateo takes offense, but admits that he likes J-Lo anyway.
Mateo: Oh, just because I'm gay, I like J-Lo? I mean I do, she's flawless. But expand your mind.
