Tropes

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Static goes from his usual friendly and joking banter to hunting down his rogues one by one and brutally interrogating them to find Puff and Onyx after he finds out they kidnapped his father. When he finally finds them, he doesn't hesitate before attacking them right away, demanding to know where he is. Onyx quickly shouts to Puff in legitimate fear to just give Static the message like they were hired to, realizing he isn't fooling around this time.
  • Big "NO!": Omnara when Gear's counter-virus kicks in.
  • Continuity Nod: After Static helped revive his son, Alva no longer has a grudge against Static.
  • Death by Secret Identity: Not dead per se, Omnara has been immobilized by a counter-virus uploaded by Gear, that's fed her too much information for her to comprehend. Thus, unable to reveal to anyone Static's secret identity.
  • Deducing the Secret Identity: Robert easily figures out that Virgil is Static, as he points out the obvious logic in why someone would go through the trouble of abducting him as leverage against him. He further admits that, deep down, he always subconsciously knew the truth, but was in denial. This just confirmed it for him.
    • Also in the episode, Robert suspects that Richie is Gear and asks Virgil. While Richie is quick to deny this, Virgil confirms this.
  • Fighting Your Friend: After being forced to do Omnara's bidding in exchange for his dad's safety, Virgil is forced to commit several crimes for her as she gives him instructions through a comm piece. Gear only sees his best friend become a criminal and is frustrated with his unexplained actions. Virgil can't tell him what's happening due to the comm piece and Omnara demands he either get rid of Gear or face his father's death. The two best friends reluctantly battle, although Static eventually defeats him and gives Gear a coded message to tell him he's being blackmailed.
  • Foreshadowing: Gear's equipment going haywire at the start of the episode is part of Omnara's ultimate project.
  • I Want My Mommy!: After the thrashing that Static gave him to find Puff and Onyx's whereabouts, a dazed Shiv meekly calls out for his mother and then passes out.
  • Idiot Ball: When Puff and Onyx kidnap Robert, they prevent Sharon from intervening by blocking her driver's side door with their van. Sharon, instead of using the other passenger doors that are still perfectly open, just tries to keep opening the blocked door in obvious vain.
  • Multitasked Conversation: While fighting Gear on Omnara's orders, Static hints at why he's doing this by calling him a worm and covertly suggests running a diagnostic. Gear later lampshades how this wasn't hard to figure out, given how many times Static used the word "worm" in a few sentences.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Upon finding out his father was taken, Virgil goes on a Roaring Rampage of Rescue to figure out who took his father and why. He goes through his total list of enemies with no patience for fooling around, demanding answers. Every single one of them is left trembling in fear at the realization Static is NOT messing around.
Static: If this is a trick, you won't be able to run far enough.
    (He flies off.)
Puff: I don't get it. We snatch one guy and he acts like it's the crime of the century!
  • Wham Line: "You can drop the act, Virgil."
