Abbie's superior, Captain Frank Irving, reluctantly allows her to work with Ichabod due to the events occurring in Sleepy Hollow, and the duo begin using Corbin's gathered archives of occult material.
Elsewhere, Andy Brooks, a former fellow police officer who was killed in the previous episode assisting the Headless Horseman, is reanimated and given new orders to resurrect the witch Serilda of Abaddon. Serilda completes the ritual for her resurrection by hunting down and killing the descendants of the magistrate who burnt her for witchcraft, but Ichabod and Abbie destroy her with explosives.
Abbie has a dream/vision of Corbin, who tells her to not be afraid of "49," the room number of a mental hospital where her sister Jenny resides.
Tropes present in the episode:
- Burn the Witch!: The fate that the magistrate visited upon Serilda.
- Hot Witch: Serilda
- Sins of Our Fathers: Serilda hunts down and kills the descendants of the magistrate who executed her for witchcraft.
- Throwaway Guns: Ichabod fires the gun Abbie gave him and then drops it, since he assumes that (like the eighteenth-century guns he's familiar with) it only holds one shot and can't be reloaded fast enough to be used again in the current fight.
- Villain of the Week: Serilda
