Recap / Simple Samosa Episode 75 Mayor Gaayab

Go To

Everyone wants to become the mayor of Chatpata Nagar when Royal Falooda suddenly leaves town.

"Mayor Gaayab" contains the following tropes:

  • Big Ball of Violence: The townsfolk produce a big ball of smoke when they fight over who should be in the mayor's chair. Cham Cham, who had glued himself to his mayor chair earlier, gets in on the carnage as well.
  • Bindle Stick: At the beginning of the episode, a few of the citizens fleeing due to the mayor resigning can be seen holding bindle sticks.
  • Egopolis: Cham Cham, upon becoming Chatpata Nagar's political leader, renames it to "Cham Cham Nagar".
  • Easily Elected: None of the replacements for Chatpata Nagar's mayor are even given an election to determine who should be mayor, so everyone simply sits on the mayor's chair and declares themselves leader. One of them, Cham Cham, starts to act like a despotic king and renames the city "Cham Cham Nagar" the moment he takes the helm, immediately proving himself to be a bad candidate for the elections a real-life town or country would have; unsurprisingly, he's overthrown.
  • Kent Brockman News: The Garma Garam newslady usually avoids the comedic trappings of this trope, but here, she has no problem with outright declaring she should be the mayor and making a run for the town hall, abandoning the news program as she does so.
  • Made a Slave: Cham Cham makes Samosa and his friends work their butts off when he becomes mayor, having Jalebi and Dhokla create music for him and forcing Samosa to massage him while he takes a bath in sugar syrup. He later has them and Vada carry him on a palanquin.
  • Poor Communication Kills: A lot of turmoil and chaos would have been spared of the town had Mayor Royal Falooda made clear that he only found his old chair uncomfortable, not his mayor job or the town in general.
  • Short-Lived Leadership: Cham Cham is quickly usurped by Mr. Fried Fritter to stop his egotistical rulings, and Fritter himself flushes himself down the toilet in the mayor's house not long afterwards.
  • Too Important to Walk: During his short time as a mayor, Cham Cham has Samosa, Dhokla, Jalebi, and Vada carry him in a palanquin.
  • Tyrant Takes the Helm: Cham Cham is the first person to take over as replacement mayor of Chatpata Nagar, but acts more like a ruthless king. He renames the place "Cham Cham Nagar", makes everyone wear square-shaped glasses like his, taxes everyone, and forces the people to give him two bowls of sugar syrup for his personal bathtub. When Mr. Fried Fritter is brought in to takes his place, Cham Cham super-glues himself to his chair to keep his position, under the excuse that "This throne is mine forever!"
