The Bus Came Back: Aldertree appears since his demotion as head of the New York Institute, being revealed as the mastermind behind the Heavenly Fire project.
Grew a Spine: Helen did not know that Aldertree wanted to strip Downworlders of their abilities, so she teams up with Simon and Raphael to destroy all Heavenly fire vials and expose him to the Clave.
Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Raphael getting injected with the Heavenly fire allows him to finally walk in the daylight and enjoy mundane things.
Put on a Prison Bus: Aldertree is arrested after his crimes against the Downworld are exposed.
Sudden Downer Ending: Everything seems to look bright for the characters in this episode, with Clary accepting that, despite everything Lilith put him through in Edom, Jonathan is beyond help and deserves what's coming for him, Simon and Isabelle succeeding in getting the Heavenly fire vials they need to remove the life-bounding rune from Clary and Aldertree getting arrested for his major role in the scheme, and Aline and Helen's first interaction. However, when Alec intends to propose to Magnus, who shows up drunk and is depressed over the loss of his magic, he decides not to go through with the act and comforts a sobbing Magnus.
Turning Back Human: For all the Downworlders who were injected with the Heavenly fire serum, including Raphael and Iris. Unlike the complaining Iris, Raphael is happy about it and is now able to walk into the sun and do things as a mundane.
