Go To

Elaine wants to date a man who's homosexual. Jerry attempts to prove he doesn't watch Melrose Place when dating a police woman and needs George's help in beating a lie-detector. George starts wearing a toupee but ends up dating a bald woman. Kramer is getting paid to be in police lineups.

Tropes:

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Nose: George mockingly does this to Eliane, which is what causes her to steal his wig and throw it out of Jerry's window.
  • The Beard: Elaine serves as one for Robert, as indicated in the episode's title.
  • Believing Your Own Lies: George advices Jerry to do this in order to beat the lie-detector. It fails when Jerry can't stand the questions anymore.
  • Consummate Liar: Jerry seeks George's help in beating a lie- detector test.
  • Dodgy Toupee: George starts wearing a very obvious toupee, which Jerry calls a "hair hat." Elaine eventually gets sick of it, grabs it and tosses it out the window.
Elaine: I DON'T LIKE THIS THING! AND HERE'S WHAT I'M DOING WITH IT! [throws it out Jerry's window]
  • Hypocrite: George is judgy to his date for being bald. Elaine, outraged at his hypocrisy, pulls his toupee off and disposes of it.
  • Incompatible Orientation: Elaine's subplot involves falling for a gay guy, Robert.
  • Moral Myopia: George gets upset at a bald woman rejecting him for being bald when he was about to do it himself. Kramer gives him hell for it.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Kramer gets angry at a homeless man selling away his Tupperware but, as the homeless man said, he never said he had to give back the tupperware, but Kramer said he didn't think he had to.
  • Title Drop: Elaine name drops the title at the beginning when she acts as a 'beard' for Robert, a gay guy.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Kramer gives Elaine hell for throwing George's wig out of Jerry's window.
