Recap / Seinfeld S2 E6 "The Statue"

Go To

Jerry gets a statue stolen from his apartment by the guy he hired to clean his house. George wants the aforementioned statue to give to his parents after he broke one like that when he was younger.

  • Funny Background Event: The guy who keeps saying "Will you put that cigarette out?" to Rava in the elevator. Even funnier, there IS a no smoking sign behind him!
  • Impersonating an Officer: Kramer dresses as a Dragnet-type and gets the statue back from Ray after interrogating him.
  • Neat Freak: Ray is an incredible maid, even going as far as cleaning the peephole for his door, which greatly impresses Jerry.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It's never confirmed whether or not Ray stole the statue or if he really did have a similar one like Jerry had. That said, Ray does say and do a couple suspicious things after the statue's disappearance. For example, he acts uneasy upon seeing Jerry in his and Rava's house (they were only expecting Elaine), and later saying he doesn't want Rava to know where the statue came from (despite having a rather innocuous excuse that he got it a pawn shop).
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: George finally gets the statue for himself to give his parents after Kramer got it back. But then as George holds it, Kramer gives him a friendly pat on the back, causing him to drop it.
