Recap / Seijuu Sentai Gingaman Ep 20

Go To

Budoh's second Shogun warrior Hyoudogasa uses a freeze spell to make people fall asleep so he can find the Lights of Ginga. The only one that can stop him is Ryouma, but he has Bull Black to deal with as well.

Episode Tropes:

  • All Up to You: With his team and Moak under the sleeping spell, Ryouma is forced to fight Hyoudogasa alone.
  • An Ice Person: Hyoudogasa uses ice needles to lower people's body temperature and force them to sleep in order to lure the Lights of Ginga out.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Just when it looked like Hyoudogasa's plan worked and the Lights of Ginga appeared, they turned out to be a fake Illies created.
  • Good vs. Good: Well, good vs anti-heroism. Ryouma and Bull Black come to blows as the latter wants Hyoudogasa alive so the Lights of Ginga can appear.
  • Innocuously Important Episode: While not known at the time, this is where Bucrates and Iliess begin to plan Budoh's downfall after being humiliated by the latter.
  • Mounted Combat: In one fight, Ryouma fights Hyoudogasa on horseback.
  • Nepotism: Bucrates flat out admits to his niece Iliess that he wanted her as Balban's Action Commander from the start, and they start planning to usurp Budoh from his rank.
  • No-Sell: Due to his Earth Power being fire-based, Ryouma is the only human to reject Hyoudogasa's freeze spell.
  • Race Against the Clock: If Hyoudogasa is not destroyed before sundown, everyone who was hit by his ice needle will die.
  • The Reveal: Brucrates and Illies are related, with the former being the latter's uncle.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: Ryouma and Hyoudogasa try to end their duel under this trope, but that's not what ends either of them. Instead, Bull Black uses his dart to land a fatal blow against Hyoudogasa.
