Dr. Clock tries to reconcile J.D. and Elliott, while waiting to see which one Dr. Cox will give the Chief Resident position.
- Ass Shove: A patient comes in with a lightbulb up his ass. Getting it out with breaking it and hurting him is the mystery of the week for Cox and Turk.
- Brick Joke: After Kelso steals their moment of glory, Cox, Turk, and the Janitor get revenge by installing the ass-lightbulb in his desklamp.Kelso: [turns on lamp] [reads for a second] [sniffs] [gets a look] GOOD LORD.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Molly's an amazing psychiatrist, despite being a Cloud Cuckoolander who can never find her office and can barely remember the time of day.
- Butt-Monkey: Doug has to repeat the third year of residency.
- Damned by Faint Praise: Doug is proud to be the only doctor in the hospital's history to repeat the third year of his residency.
- Expert Consultant: The Janitor ends up being drafted as one after Doctor Cox has had enough of "every jackass in the joint [giving] their two cents worth."Cox: THAT'S it! I want everybody to get OUT who is not an expert on light bulbs!
The room clears out until only the Janitor remains
Cox: What are you still doing here?
Janitor: What you have there is an A21 bulb on an E26 base. Running 100 watts, putting out about 130 volts...
Turk: Get over here, you're helping [us.] - Friendship Moment: Elliot and JD begin to patch up their relationship after they work together to save a patient who's coding by grabbing some coffee and reminiscing.
- Status Quo Is God: Molly fixes the Todd, but without ongoing therapy it'll only last a week.
