Recap / SMG4 - Seaside Stupidity

Go To

X and FM are back with SMG4 on a cool cruise! before suddenly they crash due to some random sea creature :OOO YOU WONT BELLIEVE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. (they meet a retarded sea creature)
Time for Part 2 of this exciting adventure! Time to go into the depths of the teletubmarine! (sorry for skipping a week, had exams)

Mario, SMG4, X and FM go on a cruise ship, but their trip is interrupted when the boat is sunk by a random sea monster attack, stranding them at sea. Then things get really strange when they meet a dim-witted Spike with inexplicable magic powers and end up captured by a submarine full of Teletubbies.

This two-parter episode marks the first appearance of Fishy Boopkins, the first major Original Generation character of the series.

To many longtime fans, these episodes also mark a dividing line between "Classic" SMG4 and "Modern" SMG4.

Tropes:

  • Adaptational Villainy: The sea creature in Part 1 is clearly Dorrie the Plesiosaur (its Mario 64 model), who is harmless in the original game and only sinks the boat here because everyone onboard ignored and/or refused its offer of friendship.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Dorry is summoned in Part 2 by Boopkins’ singing to attack the Teletubmarine.
  • Cliffhanger: Part 1 ends with the gang and Boopkins being captured by A.S. Swipe and his Teletubbie army.
  • Disney Owns This Trope: SMG4 attempts to sing "Under the Sea", but he is interrupted by Boopkins, who informs the audience that they don’t have the rights for the actual song, and proceeds to sing it himself. Poorly.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Not only is Boopkins’ Otaku personality nowhere to be found in his first appearance, but he also has magical powers that are never brought up again. His voice is much lower-pitched than in later episodes.
  • "Psycho" Strings: These play in Part 2 when the captured Boopkins is approached by a shadow figure, who is soon revealed to be Ben's mother.
  • Sea Monster: Dorrie the Plesiosaur attacks and sinks the cruise ship.
