Tropes

  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Church's talk about his "performance issues."
  • Forced to Watch: Carolina says that when she went through the gateway she had to watch all of her Freelancer friends and then the rest of the Blood Gulch Crew all die.
  • Horrifying the Horror: O'Malley beats a hasty retreat from Dr. Grey when she decides to use electro-shock therapy.
  • Ironic Echo Cut: When Church gripes, "Here's to hoping the Mercs are just as frustrated as the rest of us." we cut to Felix trying to get the Key to turn on, yelling, "I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED!"
  • Speak Ill of the Dead: Church and Carolina argue about Carolina's overreliance on armor enhancements and puts too much pressure on him to handle, causing him to freeze. Church warns her about what happened to The Meta, how he kept trying to gain more power from armor enhancements too and in the end it got him killed. Carolina does not take kindly to her old friend being spoken of that way.
Carolina: Don't you ever talk about Maine like you knew him!
  • The Reveal: Carolina reveals that when she went through the gateway at the Jungle Temple she not only saw all of the other Freelancers, she also watched them all die, and then the rest of the Blood Gulch Crew too.
  • We ARE Struggling Together:
    • The Blood Gulch Crew continue to struggle getting the Feds and Rebels to get along since it seems all they want to do is go out of their way to hate each other despite being in the middle of a war. They realize the only one with any chance of helping them is Doc.
    • Similarly, Felix gets frustrated with Sharkface leaving out the important detail that the Key only works for one person at a time, meaning it is useless to them until Doyle is dead. Their argument nearly escalates to them killing each other until Locus steps in and acts as a mediator.
