Tropes
- The Bad Guy Wins: Mostly. Felix got away with the Key, but as Tucker notes, he doesn't know how it works and it is useless to them as long as Doyle is alive. However, the armies of Chorus lost a lot of soldiers in their failed assault and with morality running low due to the Teeth-Clenched Teamwork between both armies they are running out of options.
- Enemy Mine: Discussed. When Wash expresses frustration at the Feds and New Republic's Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, the Reds and Blues point out that even with a common foe, it's hard for once-bitter enemies to reconcile.
- Wasn't That Fun?: After the Reds and Blues all regroup after both their failed missions, most of the group is depressed and awkwardly mumble about how things didn't go well for them. Sarge on the other hand enthusiastically declares he had a great time.
- We ARE Struggling Together: Wash notes how things are just getting worse between the Feds and Rebels, since despite working together now they still aren't working together and there's no trust between any of them. The Reds and Blues know from personal experience that it isn't easy to work with your former sworn enemies, Simmons saying it took them ages to finally trust the Blues, and Grif noting that some of them (read:"Sarge'') still have issues, as Sarge is seen pointing his shotgun at the back of Caboose's head while muttering.
