"Play it again, FILSS."

Past: To hide the Alpha from the Meta, Project Freelancer assigns Agent Florida, AKA Butch Flowers, to secure a box canyon in the middle of no where.

Present:At long last, Agent Carolina and Church face off against the Director of Project Freelancer. But instead of an evil mastermind, they find a broken man watching a video of his dead wife. Realizing that he is no longer worth it, Carolina leaves the Director alive...along with a pistol for himself.

With their quest finished, the Reds and Blues prepare to move into a familiar box canyon. However, Church and Carolina feel there is more they can do, head off to set right for all they've done wrong. Leaving without saying goodbye...

You were my greatest creation

The Director's final scenes show that while he's committed unspeakable evils, he's reduced to a pitiable, pathetic, and broken old man who just wanted to bring the love of his life back from the dead, with not even his own daughter, who had come to kill him, able to find it in her to keep hating him. He eventually asks Carolina to leave behind a pistol, and shoots himself to end it all.

How well does it match the trope?
