Recap / Power Rangers Dino Fury Episode Thirty Three The Copycat

Go To

The Rangers face a new enemy in the unstoppable Void King, while Javi has to deal with another musician stealing one of his songs for a talent competition.

Tropes:

  • Aliens Steal Cable: Mucus, not being needed by Void Queen, just lounges around watching Buzzblast.
  • Black Comedy: The episode ends with Mucus hijacking Buzzblast's feed to make people watch her own act... until Slyther and Wreckmate splat her on-camera.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Void King is Void Knight, turned into a monster like Void Queen to kill the Rangers.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Season 1 mentioned that Javi showed passing interest in one musical instrument after another. Turns out he's good enough with all of them to keep switching between them for his final performance.
  • Domestic Abuse: Void Queen turning her husband into a monster, very much against his will. And it's clearly a Painful Transformation too.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Void King is far more evil than Void Knight, and correspondingly more hammy.
  • It Only Works Once: When Zayto and Javi spar, they find out that the Dino Knight Strike can only be used once per transformation. Afterwards, it leaves the user in the open. Once Zayto figures it out, he capitalizes it against Void King.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Void King proves his credentials by handing most of the team their behinds in the first fight. They're out for the rest of the episode.
  • Power Copying: One of Void King's powers is he can use any ability used against him. Mercifully, those also come with all the drawbacks as well, which Zayto utilizes.
  • Protagonist Power-Up Privileges: Averted, it's shown that other Rangers can use the Dino Knight armor, not just Zayto, as Javi uses it in a sparring match with Zayto.
  • What Year Is This?: Semi-seriously asked by Aiyon when he wakes up at the end of the episode, pointing out that in his case, he's got every reason to wonder after what happened previously.
