The Alola Pokémon League’s exhibition match continues as Ash and Professor Kukui go all out. One-by-one, their Pokémon are knocked out, eventually resulting in both trainers having three Pokémon remaining.
- Curb-Stomp Battle:
- Braviary defeats Lycanroc with a Sky Drop and a Superpower.
- Torracat takes out Venusaur with a Fire Fang to the Vine Whip and then follows up with a Blast Burn powered Fire Blast.
- Melmetal beats Empoleon without much trouble and then is easily taken out by Incineroar not too long afterwards.
- Kill It with Fire: Kukui's Venusaur and Ash's Melmetal are beaten by Blast Burn (though in Venusaur's case, it was a Blast Burn-powered Fire Blast)
- Oh, Crap!:
- When Rowlet is trapped in Venusaur's flower and when Kukui and Empoleon see how strong and durable Melmetal is.
- Riddle for the Ages: It's never explained why Professor Kukui has a Venusaur and Empoleon as well as the fact he was able to keep them hidden despite the series making a point to show people having their entire teams out.
- Vocal Evolution: Venusaur's voice sounds deeper and more monstrous in the dub.
- The Worf Effect: Ash's Lycanroc and Melmetal are beaten fairly easily by Braviary and Incineroar while Pikachu is stalemated by Empoleon.
