Tropes
- Badass Arm-Fold: Candice's Abomasnow often does this especially when doing moves such as Blizzard.
- Cliffhanger: How the episode ends, with Paul arriving at the Snowpoint Gym to challenge Candice to a Gym Battle.
- Fragile Speedster: Sneasel can skate on the ice but a Razor Leaf knocks it onto an ice pillar and a Rock Climb knocks the Sharp Claw Pokémon out.
- Hero of Another Story: Jeremiah, the character of the day from the previous episode, is the one to stop Team Rocket from making off with all of the Pokéballs while Ash was busy having his gym match with Candice.
- Kill It with Fire: Snover and Abomasnow are both beaten by Chimchar (especially considering how they're both 4 times weak to fire).
- Mighty Glacier: Abomasnow is strong enough to take out Grotle and Staraptor, but once Ash has Chimchar break off a chunk of ice and use it like a snowboard to increase mobility on the ice, it's all over for the Frost Tree Pokémon.
- One-Hit Kill: Candice's Abomasnow takes out Ash's Staraptor with one Ice Punch and soon his Grotle with one Wood Hammer.
- Psychic Powers: Candice has a Medicham on her team.
- Roundhouse Kick: Averted with Gliscor doing one with its tail while battling Candice's Snover.
- Took a Level in Badass: A bit. Jeremiah was previously beaten by Team Rocket due to his lack of battle experience. Now, he could at least drive them away by using his Stuntank's gas before they could get away with the Pokéballs.
