While planning their route to Appleoosa City, the group learns that Applewood City is celebrating its annual Pokémon Friendship Festival, the time of year where trainers give thanks to their Pokémon and give them presents to show their appreciation. The group decide to join in and search for gifts for their Pokémon.
- Christmas Episode: The Pokémon Friendship Festival is essentially the equevalent to Christmas, celebrating and giving gifts to show thanks. It is quite fitting, since the chapter was released around the Christmas season.
- "Jar of Jellybeans" Contest: The festival has a Poke-Beans game where if you guess the exact number you win the whole jar. Twilight does some calculations based on the average size of a Poke-Bean and the size of the jar to correctly guess seven hundred and fifty-three Poke-Bean.
- Umpteenth Customer: When Flash and Twilight decide to stop at a restaurant to eat, Flash ends up being the one-millionth customer, winning a small box with a pink ribbon and glass figure inside.
