"Something different for this edition! We look at the first Transformers role-play weapons from the Energon toyline. You remember these, the ones that came in boxes that made you think you finally found that Megatron but it was just a lame lightsaber? Watch me work out my anger issues on these."

Release: September 13, 2008

Tropes

  • Audience-Alienating Era: In-universe. TJ describes these two releases (as well as Armada Laserbeak) as the "Dark Age" of Transformers role-play weapons.
  • BFG: The Energon Blaster. Not that TJ's very impressed with it.
  • BFS: Megatron's Sword. TJ lampshades how huge the guard alone is — and if it's too big for him, imagine how difficult it would probably be for a little kid to hold the sword.
  • Foreshadowing: Cybertron Backstop, who appears amongst the line-up of Plastic Addict victims in his Terminator skit, has yet to be reviewed.
  • Shout-Out: To Terminator, in a skit where he shows off the Energon Blaster, by shooting some of his Plastic Addict victims. It concludes with him being unable to fire the third dart, bringing TJ to the first major flaw of the toy.
  • Take That!: In-universe. TJ chews out Hasbro for repainting the Blaster despite how bad it is.
