"Thanksgiving IV" is the 9th episode of New Girl's fourth season.
With everyone single at Thanksgiving, Schmidt institutes "Bangsgiving", where the roommates bring dates for each other.
Tropes in this episode:
- The Bro Code: Nick is indignant that Schmidt's date is a girl Nick had previously dated for a brief time.
- Holiday in Cambodia: Nick's description of the board game Tran brought. "It's like Thailand Monopoly… all the pieces are jail except for one piece of property we all have to fight each other for. But don't land in the Red Light District. I didn't mean to make fun of Thailand, if that's even where you're from."
- Inherently Attractive Profession: Inverted. Pearl is perfectly lovely, but Winston hesitates to get to know her because she's a lunch lady.
- My Friends... and Zoidberg: In the cold open, Schmidt refers to the other main characters as "Roommates, ex-girlfriend, Winston".
- Naked Apron: Jess puts on an apron with nothing underneath when she first attempts to seduce Ryan. The ending montage shows Winston also uses it to do a naked apron with Pearl.
- No Guy Wants an Amazon: Subverted. Coach is initially turned off by Pepper's visible muscles and overt strength, but he sorts it out and they end up arm wrestling and doing pushups together in addition to hooking up.
- Preppy Name: According to Schmidt, you can tell Geoff comes from money because his name is spelled like that and not as "Jeff".
