Turning a negative into a positive.
The Sports Festival is over, and everyone's injuries are almost recovered. Everyone is present in class and Mr. Aizawa announces that everyone has to decide a hero name for themselves. He also tells how many students have gotten offers from the pro-heroes; besides that, he announces that everyone will be doing a one-week internship at a hero agency. Midnight joins Aizawa and guides students so that everyone can pick a good hero name. After that, everyone decides an agency where they want to do the internship. Midoriya is still not sure which agency he should join when suddenly All Might shows up. He tells Izuku that his teacher has offered an internship, and Izuku accepts it. Meanwhile, Iida picks an agency in the area where his brother was attacked. The next day, everyone sets off for the internship.

Tropes:

  • Appropriated Appellation: Made official when Midoriya chooses "Deku", formerly a derisive nickname used by Bakugo to denote him as a hopeless weakling, as his Hero name. Suffice to say, Bakugo is surprisd and Uraraka (the one who changed what "Deku" means for him) couldn't be happier.
  • Atrocious Alias: Aizawa warns the students that it's important to come up with a concrete hero name early, as they may have to stick with it when they become Pro Heroes. A flashback shows that he casually accepted the name "Eraser Head" which was suggested by Present Mic, something that he supposedly regrets to this day.
    • Midoriya wants to reconstruct "Deku" into something hero-worthy, and has since chosen to make it his official hero name.
    • Subverted for Aoyama, who decides to name himself "I Cannot Stop Twinkling". While his classmates are confused by this, Midnight simply fixes it to "Can't Stop Twinkling" for better flow.
  • Awesome McCoolname: Aizawa gives the class the opportunity to create their own Hero Names. Many of them base theirs off of their Quirks, past heroes, appearance, and mixing in their real names.
    • Kirishima bases his "Red Riot" name off his idol "Crimson Riot". Midnight lets him know that this choice means he has more to live up to. Kirishima eagerly accepts the challenge.
    • Asui chooses the name "Froppy", which she came up with years ago. Midnight considers this approachable as a Hero. It was enough to relieve pressure from the other students' attempt to come up with their own name.
    • Played with by Jiro, who suggests Kaminari the name "Jamming-way" because he Took a Level in Dumbass when he uses his Quirk. Kaminari mistakes it to be based on Ernest Hemingway, an author of A Farewell to Arms, which he considered a cool idea until he learned the truth. Afterwards, he decides on "Charge Bolt".
    • Uraraka chooses "Uravity", mixing her surname with her Quirk name.
    • Minetta chooses "Grape Juice" since his hair resembles giant grapes.
    • Only Todoroki and Iida choose to subvert this themselves, using only their actual first names. Iida feels that he is not yet worthy of inheriting his brother's "Ingenium" name when offered.
    • Bakugo suggests "King Explosion Murder", but Midnight thinks it's too violent. He then changes it to "Lord Explosion Murder", which isn't much better. Or different.
  • Foreshadowing: Midoriya narrates that he notices Iida was acting strange before they left for their internships, and regrets not stepping in when he had the chance.
  • Oh, Crap!: All Might discovers that Gran Torino, one of his mentors, has invited Midoriya for internship.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Midoriya is worried that All Might is shaken at the mention of Gran Torino.
  • Popularity Power: The students' performance in the Sports Festival allows multiple Hero Agencies to invite them for internship, granting an opportunity to be a sidekick after graduation. Todoroki ends up getting the most, including his father's, likely due to his relation to Endeavor and his stellar performance. On the other end, Midoriya has only one Agency/Mentor inviting him for internship, specifically thanks to his recklessness.
  • Shout-Out: Mina initially wants to call herself "Alien Queen". Midnight thinks the name is too gross and makes her pick another (Pinky).
  • The Stinger: After the credits, Midoriya arrives at the home of Gran Torino, and panics when he sees what appears to be the old man's bloody corpse... only for Gran Torino to look up and assure him that he's perfectly fine.
