"It's cool, dude. We don't have to talk."
- Darlene

Elliot and Mr. Robot set the van and the evidence within ablaze. Meanwhile, Darlene is closing in on Elliot's last known position at the gas station only to find that he isn't there. Frustrated, Darlene quickly notices the smoke from the torched van billowing up through the trees. When she stops to investigate, Elliot arrives and the two return to the city.

Sometime later, Krista is about to leave her home before she receives several texts from Jason, her boyfriend. Originally planning to attend a family gathering with him, Krista instead proposes that the two have dinner at her house. Jason agrees.

Dom is assigned to dispose off the evidence left by the van burning in the beginning of the episode by Janice.

Elliot and Darlene later infiltrate Virtual Reality, an E Corp building, to hack the details of Cyprus National Bank. Things go sideways after a guard notices the powercut and his credentials being used on the servers.

Price is informed by Elliot that Tyrell won't be attending the Deus Group meeting, as he prepares for the meet by himself.

Tropes

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: After spending a couple of episodes on the outs, Darlene doubles back to rescue Elliot from the cops, and he expresses his gratitude wordlessly by placing his hand on hers.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Darlene arrives at the nick of time when the police close in on Elliot.
  • Cliffhanger: Price is set to meet with the Deus Group despite Tyrell's absence, Janice sends Dom after Elliot and Darlene, and Krista is confronted by Vera after she catches on to one of his spies.
  • Demoted to Extra: Christian Slater only appears as Mr. Robot during the intro, with no lines.
  • Despite the Plan: The Virtual Realty heist should not have worked out in Elliot and Darlene's favor based on how sloppy they were, but it does. Granted, they come very, very close to being captured.
  • The Guards Must Be Crazy: Subverted. While the Virtual Realty guards do seem easily distracted at first, they actually are properly suspicious of odd things they notice and investigate thoroughly. They also call the cops as soon as it becomes apparent they have a breach in their security.
  • Indy Ploy: Once Elliot and Darlene are busted by Virtual Realty's security, the rest of their time is spent doing this:
    • As the cameras begin to reactivate and a Virtual Realty guard is approaching, Elliot quickly hacks the building's electronic infrastructure to cause a blackout in the server room. He and Darlene use this opportunity to leg it out of the server room.
    • To save Darlene's hide while also giving her a chance to escape, Elliot lets himself be detected so the authorities focus on him and give chase.
    • Darlene escapes the Virtual Reality building by infiltrating the nearby gym and passing herself as a gym member.
    • Elliot desperately leaps over a rail and into an embankment to finally shake the cops, at which point Darlene pulls up in a car just in time to collect him and get the hell out of dodge.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The opening scene features Darlene picking Elliot up from the events of the previous episode and saying, "It's cool, dude, we don't have to talk." After an entire episode of people giving each other the silent treatment (or just unable to speak) for one reason or another, it closes with a single line: "It's time we talked."
  • No-Dialogue Episode: Barring the opening and closing scenes.
  • Stealth Pun: The title could be read as Method Not Aloud.
  • Stern Chase: The chase between Elliot and the police is fucking relentless, with Elliot bobbing and weaving through oncoming traffic, tumbling across a skating rink, hopping on a transit bus, being hit by a car, and falling twenty or so feet after jumping over a railing! All of this with his pursuers never lagging behind. He's finally able to shake the cops once Darlene pulls up to retrieve him and the two make a hasty getaway.

"It’s time we talked."
