Recap / Monkie Kid S 4 E 13 Rip And Tear

Go To

The team takes on the Brotherhood once again, and this time they’re ready — but Azure Lion only losing himself to the Jade Emperor's power more and more might force MK to counter with his own terrifying power.

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: Mei's plan for defeating Azure Lion relies on the fact that his hatred for Monkey King will lead him and the brotherhood to make the first move against the heroes, assuming they're getting caught off guard — and that he'll be so easily riled up by MK and Monkey King that he won’t realize they're only distracting him so the monkeys of Flower Fruit Mountain can collect all the scroll pieces he wastes during the battle.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: When MK goes into his Monkey Form to take on Azure Lion, the latter doesn't even stand a chance against him — with the Jade Emperor's power the sole reason he isn’t outright defeated, or worse.
  • The Gloves Come Off: MK spends the last few episodes afraid of his Monkey form and unwilling to use it even to fight Azure...but once the latter forces his hand, to say Monkey MK puts Monkey King's beatdown of Lady Bone Demon from last season to shame is an understatement. He practically gives the mad God King a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown, which leaves Flower Fruit Mountain split in half by the end of it.
  • Irony: During Macaque and Peng's face-off. Peng taunts Macaque for his loyalty to Wukong. Even outright asking Macaque if there was anything the Monkey King could do to him that would cause Macaque to turn against him...
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: Let's just say that Azure deriding Monkey King as a traitorous, power hungry liar and false hero who incorrectly believes himself entitled to the powers of heaven only to bring about destruction in his wake for doing so is extremely, extremely rich.
