Torrington's old biology teacher, Mr. Black, allows himself to be bitten by a spider, transforming into a half-spider, half-human creature to get revenge on the staff who forced him into retirement. (The spider is really a spitting spider, which is why Mr. Black was able to fire a web thread from his mouth.)

- And There Was Much Rejoicing: Everyone but Diana is sad to find out that Mr. Black is retiring.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Mr. Black is all pleasant and smiles when Diana, Martin and Java visit him at his house, when in fact he has already turned himself into a monstrous spider and intends to kill those he considers have wronged him.
- Disproportionate Retribution: You force me to retire? Then I'll become a humanoid spider, kidnap you and take you to my lair to eat you later.
- Head Desk: Martin does it in resignation at M.O.M.'s huge workload of homework.
- Monstrous Mandibles: Mr. Black's spider form has some prominent mandibles.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: The spider-creature's eyes are red.
- Sadist Teacher: Martin believes M.O.M. will be this type of teacher when she replaces Mr. Black.
- Spider People: Mr. Black, one of Torrington's teachers, mad at being forced to retire, turns himself into a humanoid spider monster to get revenge.
