Recap / Little Princess S 2 E 30 I Dont Want To Miss It

Go To

Outside, the adults are playing croquet and cheering the Queen on. The Princess runs out and asks why they're cheering, so the Queen explains that she did a good shot in croquet. The Princess wishes she could've seen it and asks the Queen to do it again, but this time she fails. She tries again several times, but the balls land in the pond, in the Prime Minister's ice cream cone, and inside the castle respectively. She eventually succeeds, but by then, the Princess has left.

In the kitchen, the Princess (who had run there because she heard the Chef exclaim) asks what happened. He explains that the croquet ball landed in his jelly, which makes the Princess grumpy and she storms off chanting, "Not fair!". She eventually sits on the stair sulking, while the King walks up to her carrying a book and telescope. He says that something marvellous is going to happen which initially cheers the Princess up, but she becomes cranky again when he reveals it isn't going to happen right then.

She walks off into the garden and the narrator asks her what's wrong. She replies that everybody else sees funny and exciting things, but she never does. The narrator says it's just luck and tries to alert her to the General falling into a bush, but unfortunately she misses that as well.

She complains that she always misses funny and exciting things, like the time the Maid got chased by a mouse, the time Scruff ran off with the Admiral's hat and everyone thought it was alive, and the time the General slipped on one of her (the Princess's) roller skates (which all happened in quick succession on the same day).

The Princess goes inside looking bummed out, and the narrator tries to console her by saying that she can't be everywhere at once and those things are usually unexpected, but she knows that already. Then, she finds an air horn and has an idea: give a noisy object to each of her friends so they can alert her when they think something funny or exciting will happen. While giving the King a whistle, he tries to tell her about something, when the Chef plays his harmonica.

She goes into the kitchen and it turns out to be because he's made a souffle that he expects to deflate with a rude noise. Then, the Admiral's air horn sounds and the Princess leaves... just missing the souffle deflating. She asks the Admiral what he saw, but he reveals that he gave the horn to the Prime Minister. Then, the General's whistle blows, but the Princess doesn't bother to investigate the sound since she's lost faith in the idea that anything funny or exciting will ever happen. As if to prove her point, all the General wanted to show was himself sneezing. Then, the King blows his whistle and the Princess comes over. He reveals what he's been trying to tell her: a comet named Bertie's Comet is scheduled to arrive that night.

That night, everyone goes outside to look for the comet, but the adults all fall asleep. Luckily, the Princess sees the comet. The adults miss it, but they get their happy ending too when a meteor shower happens.
