Stockbroker Todd Hauser goes to the ER for stomach pains and ends up dying of an internal hemorrhage, the result of him participating in a competitive street fight in the park. The rules for the matches include disclosing of training in martial arts or pro. A retaliatory brawl leaves several wounded and a dead man who was not even participating. McCoy makes the controversial decision to prosecute the participants by labeling their fight as a terrorist act. In the end, he offers the defendants a deal.

Tropes present in this episode

  • Accidental Murder: The episide starts with the death of Todd Hauser in a consentual fight. Even if you accept that the fight wasn't fair to begin with due to the killer having more experience, or that Todd tried to get out of it, his death sas still unintended.
  • Asian Airhead: Donna, who is memorable to several characters as "the Asian girl in a Pixies T-shirt" and whose enthusiasm for the fights is worrisome to Van Buren.
  • Bland-Name Product: YouLenz is the name given to the mock version of YouTube.
  • Caught on Tape: Several matches are in YouTube and the recordings are used to locate suspects.
  • Plea Bargain: The deal proposed is, the ones who beat Fonsella (the guy who was in the fight and unfortunately murdered Todd in a street fight) to death plead to murder two, 20 to life, and the rest plead to two counts of man one, 5 years each, consecutive. The stockbroker's brother accepts reluctantly.
  • Shout-Out: A character is known for her wearing a The Pixies t-shirt. She even uses "Surfer Rosa" as a username
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Lupo is asked to testify for the prosecution on terrorism charges. As someone who actually fought terrorists, he is not feeling.
    "When a cop stretches the rules, we get slammed. When you do it, we're supposed to hear the angels sing. I'll testify in your terrorism trial about what I saw and what I heard. But if you try to use my résumé to sell your case, you won't like what you hear."
