A short on cash Cotton must make the hard choice between working his new, minimum wage job, or marching in the Veteran's Day parade.
- Broke Episode: For Cotton. Completely broke and forced to live in the local VFW.
- "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Hank brings up that if they need money, Didi is a certified optometrical assistant and there's a Lenscrafter down at the mall. But Cotton vetoes this idea because he refuses to let his wife work.
- Fate Worse than Death: Cotton claims he's subjecting the restaurant owner to this by tying and gagging him (but leaving his nose uncovered), leaving him in a bathroom stall, just as a regular customer who takes very smelly dumps is about to come in. "In a few minutes, you is gonna wish you was dead!"
- Interrupted Suicide: Within moments of blowing his own brains out so Didi and G.H. can cash in on his life insurance policy, Cotton's suicide plan is foiled when an irate Didi forces him to watch the baby, giving him a renewed will to live.
- Reckless Gun Usage: Cotton allows his almost newborn son to fire a loaded revolver. At least he had the good sense to make sure G.H. had ear protection...
