Recap / Kaeloo S 3 E 2 Lets Play Garage Sale

Go To

Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack Quack hold a Garage Sale. Their only customer is Mr. Cat.

"Let's Play Garage Sale" contains the following tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: Mr. Cat buys a bunch of seemingly useless stuff at the garage sale. It's revealed later in the episode that he planned it out so that a) he can re-sell it to gullible people for even higher prices than he paid for the items, and b) since his bedroom is full of stuff, he can ask to sleep in Kaeloo's bedroom with her.
  • Bedmate Reveal: Kaeloo is about to fall asleep, but she wakes up to find Mr. Cat lying next to her in bed. Turns out he bought too much stuff at the sale and now there's no space in his room for him to sleep, so he decided to break into her room and sleep there instead.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Bad Kaeloo asks Mr. Cat if she can "buy" him. He agrees, so she starts aggressively cuddling him. The whole thing plays out like a paid BDSM encounter.
  • Exiled to the Couch: Kaeloo makes Mr. Cat sleep on the couch. It's completely justified because he wasn't even supposed to be in her bed in the first place.
  • Furry Reminder: After Mr. Cat lays in Kaeloo's bed, Kaeloo finds the bed full of cat hair.
  • Garage Sale: Kaeloo, Stumpy and Quack Quack hold a garage sale with Mr. Cat as their only customer. He initially refuses to buy anything, but Kaeloo uses a psychological trick that convinces him to buy almost everything. After buying so many things, Mr. Cat winds up having his own garage sale - where he tricks them into buying their own stuff back at exorbitant prices.
  • Narcissist: Kaeloo offers Mr. Cat a plastic figurine of himself. He had previously refused to buy anything, but is so awestruck by the figurine that he buys it and his mood is elevated to the extent where he goes on a shopping spree.
  • Out-of-Character Moment:
    • Kaeloo is fine with lying to Mr. Cat to get him to buy her stuff. She also hits several sheep with a baseball bat so she can buy stuff before them at Mr. Cat's Garage Sale.
    • Mr. Cat is dumb enough to believe Kaeloo's lies and buy everything she sells him. He also willingly sells himself to Bad Kaeloo, fully knowing that this will only result in injury.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Mr. Cat sneaks into Kaeloo's bedroom without permission so he can sleep next to her. Kaeloo is understandably disturbed by his actions.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: By the end of the episode, Kaeloo, Stumpy, and Quack Quack are stuck with their old junk again and Mr. Cat gets all his money back.
  • Skewed Priorities: Mr. Cat is so obsessed with making money by selling things that he sells himself to violent, abusive Bad Kaeloo.
  • There Is Only One Bed: Mr. Cat tries to invoke this trope by breaking into Kaeloo's bedroom and trying to sleep next to her since he can't get into his room, but it's subverted when she makes him sleep on the couch instead, to his disappointment.
