Jane promised to retain her virginity in order to avoid becoming an unwed single mother. Well, she's now an unwed single mother, so she decides to just have sex with Michael. Alba is disappointed in Xiomara's handling of Rogelio, and takes it into her own hands to stop Rogelio from trying to see Jane. Meanwhile, Jane continues to question whether Petra will be a fit mother, and her pursuit of the truth leads to an unexpected change in their relationship. Michael’s on-going murder investigation leads to an unexpected discovery.


Tropes

  • An Aesop: provided by Alba: "Little lies can spiral into BIG BALLS OF EVIL." Honesty is the big theme of the episode.
  • Cannot Tell a Lie: Jane ends up blurting out her "screw it, I'mma screw Michael" plan to Alba right in the middle of church. See the following trope for the prompt that causes it.
  • Character Development: Petra, whom Jane suspects of foul play and whose possessions Jane decided to snoop around in under the guise of delivering the laundry, reveals a nursery she has put together for Jane and Rafael's child. Jane is visibly touched.
  • Flashback: When Jane Gloriana Villanueva was a child, she caught a firefly and made two wishes upon it. She wished for: 1) boobs, and 2) someone who would want to touch them.
  • Imagine Spot: when Alba insists that Jane come to church with her, she ends up receiving an elaborate musical number in which she imagines the priest, the choir, Alba and even the statue of the Virgin Mary advising her, "Don't Have Sex, Jane!"
  • No Animals Were Harmed: This episode, which has Jane making wishes on fireflies, ends with the narrator declaring, "No fireflies were harmed in the making of this episode."
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Michael and Petra work together unwillingly.
