Recap / J-WITCH S1 E19, "Tohru Who?"

Go To

Valmont wipes Tohru's memory in order to regain control of him, leading to the Chans and the Guardians chasing them to a temple in Sri Lanka.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Strikemaster Ice once again flirts with Will when they fight at the monastery.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: Will does a three way version with Jackie and Tohru.
  • Big "NO!": Valmont, when Jade takes the Heart of Kandrakar from him and throws it back to Will.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Caleb and the Guardians, when Jade reveals that for once she didn't bring any Talismans along with her.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Valmont manages to steal the Heart of Kandrakar from Will, almost completely robbing the Guardians of their powers. Despite this, they're still more than capable of fighting, thanks to Jackie's training.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Cornelia tries to tell the Dark Hand that the Golden Elephant could be booby-trapped, she asks if they haven't watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. MC Cobra replies that he has and goes on to praise Harrison Ford.
  • Genre Blindness: Cornelia calls out the Dark Hand on failing to consider that the Golden Elephant — which is virtually unprotected at the temple — might have some kind of a boobytrap attached to it.
  • Invulnerable Knuckles: When Hak Foo and DJ Fist attempt to fight off the Stone Sentinels, they only manage to hurt their fists.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Like in canon, this chapter features Valmont using a potion to wipe Tohru's memories in order to trick him into rejoining the Dark Hand.
  • The Worf Effect: Hak Foo and the Ice Crew are Badass Normal martial artists capable of holding their own against the Guardians. However, they're unable to do anything against the Stone Sentinels in the Temple of the Golden Elephant, showing how dangerous the new adversaries are until the girls regain the Heart and are able to transform.
