Summary

The Fall Festival has finally arrived, and Taka and Hifumi kick off the festivities with a parade. Will Makoto and Kyoko be able to enjoy the festival as they did in the spring term? Or will fate have other plans in store?

• The Cameo: Sonia makes an appearance as Kyoko questions him about the weapon made from her country that was at the crime scene.
• Dogged Nice Guy: Kazuichi tries to defend Sonia when Kyoko questions her about her country's weapon that was used during the attack at the Fall Festival parade, only for her to tell him to leave due to Kyoko's questions being quite reasonable.
• Eating the Eye Candy: Kyoko finds herself distracted by Makoto's stuffed, exposed belly.
  Kyoko: [thinking] His belly looks... cute... all bloated like that...
  Makoto: Ano... Kyoko... are you okay? You seem a bit... distracted...
  Kyoko: [thinking] Stupid, stupid, Kyoko! You know better than to stare at Makoto like that... even it makes him look cute, all big and round like that... STOP THAT! BAD KYOKO!
  • This actually gets discussed by Present!Kyoko as she tells Kiki that this tends to be one of the signs of a crush and that it's perfectly normal, as long as you don't invade that person's privacy.
• Malaproper: While explaining that she's never seen an actual detective before, Sonia says that she's "shuttered" instead of "sheltered", which Kyoko corrects her.
• Mythology Gag: Taka getting shot at during a parade on a float references his scrapped execution.
• Odd Couple: Hifumi and Taka were chosen to ride on Hope's Peak's float. Taka, due to him being the Ultimate Moral Compass, and Hifumi, due to the class needing someone to wave the flag and he lost at Drawing Straws.
• The Paralyzer: The gun that was used during the attack at the parade, according to Sonia, was meant to stun a target but was tampered to inflict actual damage.
