Recap / Guardians Of The Galaxy 2015 S 3 E 14 Black Vortex Part 1

Go To

The Guardians manage to save the Kree homeworld from the Collector, but he activates a self-destruct sequence in hopes of eliminating them once and for all. Just as it seems there is no way out, Gamora leads them to an ominous mirror that can help them escape.

Though they survive the Collector's wrath, they are now separated in strange new dimensions and must find a way to reunite.

Gamora: Birds of a Feather

  • Art Shift: Gamora is sent to a Disney-style universe, in the same style as Tangled: The Series.
  • Brick Joke: Gamora ignores the woodlanders' "Whistling Song", though she starts whistling it after she escapes.
  • Disney Creatures of the Farce: Cuddly woodland animals try to befriend and sing with Gamora. It turns out that they were trying to keep her isolated, only to turn on her after they are exposed.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: Parodied. After slaughtering all of the evil woodland creatures, Gamora finds the area littered with piles of glitter.
    Gamora: Well that was... sparkly.
  • Princess Classic: Gamora, who argues the point, but does seem to tick a lot of the qualifications.

Drax: Heroes

  • Mythology Gag: As noted under "Self-Parody", Drax is put through a version of Spider-Man's life. Additionally, the dimension it puts Drax in is a version of his original origin story in the comics: a human named Arthur Douglas who was killed directly by Thanos and resurrected into Drax. His "Draxman" costume is even based on Drax's original outfit in the comics.
  • Self-Parody: Spoofs the Spider-Man franchise.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: The longer Drax stays in the comic book world, the more he realizes that it is controlling him. After hearing Gamora calling out to him, Drax must overcome the narrator in order to escape.
