After fighting with Martin, Frasier accidentally sets his chair on fire and knocks it off the balcony.
In a B-Plot, Niles tries to teach Daphne how to play piano, but she soon finds herself outshone by Roz.
Tropes:
- Jerkass Has a Point: Frasier's way out of line when he insists Martin staining the rug with oil was subconsciously deliberate, but he's not wrong to get angry given how incredibly stupid it was. Martin started oiling his chair up in the middle of the living room, and didn't put down newspaper or anything. He really should have known better.
- Raging Stiffie: Perhaps the dirtiest piece of innuendo in the series. After Niles' attempt to give Daphne a piano lesson goes literally sideways, with the two making out fiercely on the bench, the doorbell rings. Niles sits up, shifts uncomfortably, and asks Daphne, "Could you get that?" When he finally does get up, he tries to act casual while holding a piece of sheet music at crotch level.
- Solar-Powered Magnifying Glass: Well, telescope, but the idea is the same. After all the furniture is moved to the balcony so a new rug can be put down, the sun focuses through it and set Martin's chair on fire.
