Recap / Frasier S 09 E 05 Room Full Of Heroes

Go To

Frasier throws a Halloween party and invites everyone to dress as their favorite hero, and Niles shows up dressed as Martin.

Tropes:

  • Brain Food: It turns out that children are scared of going to Frasier's apartment on Halloween because they think he'll eat their brains.
  • Digging Yourself Deeper: When Frasier first learns that children thinks he eats Brain Food, he first states that he's never eaten human brains, though some animal brains are considered haute cuisine. When he realizes that the child he's telling this to is recoiling in fear, he quickly backtracks.
  • I Have to Go Iron My Dog: At least eight of Frasier's invited party guests call to claim they're too sick to attend his party, though Frasier assumes it's flu season rather than a shared excuse.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Frasier's idea of a fun Halloween night is having everyone discuss the Human Genome Project in-character. Even Niles isn't interested in this.
  • In Vino Veritas: Niles originally impresses and amuses everyone with his impression, but after trying to emulate his father's drinking habits, he starts talking about how much "Martin" is disappointed that he didn't have "normal" children. The real Martin is outraged at such words being put in his mouth, as he's always been proud of his sons.
  • Jerkass Ball: Frasier is particularly haughty toward Roz coming dressed as Wonder Woman, so much so she covers up the reason she did so out of embarassment.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Halfway through the episode, a petulant Frasier upstaged by his brother leaves his party, and learns from a trick-or-treating kid that the reason they've been avoiding his apartment is because they think he eats Brain Food. At the end of the episode, Niles' wig is stuck to his head, and the kids arrive just as Frasier is violently yanking it off, not helping to quell the rumor.
  • Troll: The kids in the apartment block are scared of Frasier, and Martin has been egging this on by spreading tales of "Old Man Crane" and his brain-eating tendencies.
