Recap / First Wave S 3 E 6 Still At Large

Go To

After receiving a tipoff regarding documents that could prove his innocence in the murder of his wife, Cade goes undercover with Jordan at a Chicago police station to find them. What can possibly go wrong?

Tropes:

  • Downer Ending: Cade does not get away with the proof of his innocence, the Gua destroy Emma's files, and now the police are aware that Cade's still alive.
  • Frame-Up: Cade and Jordan find a copy of Hannah's post mortem report, which show she was strangled with more than human strength, which the coroner cannot account for. Unfortunately, they only have a photocopy, which proves nothing.
  • Inspector Javert: Tracey is suspicious of Cade the moment he sees him, sure he's seen him somewhere before. When he realises who he is, he has "Cade's" body exhumed. By the end, he's seen plenty of evidence that something deeply weird is going on with Cade's case, but is still determined to hunt him down rather than find answers.
  • MacGuffin: Emma has collected a huge amount of documents proving the existence of Gua operatives within law enforcement, plus evidence in cases like Cade's where such operatives interfered with justice for Gua purposes.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: How does Cade disguise himself to sneak into the police station in his own home town? He puts on glasses. And a moustache.
  • Squick: Jordan is forced to put someone else's gum in her mouth to smuggle the key away from a Gua operative. It Makes Sense in Context.
  • Tempting Fate: "If all goes well, we should be out of here in an hour." Really, Cade? Really?
  • Wham Shot: When the coffin containing the body of Cade's clone is opened, the body looks fine despite having been dead for several weeks. In fact, it looks better than when it was buried.
