Deep Trouble for Sam is the 4th episode in Series 4 of Fireman Sam.
While helping Penny with her garden, Sam ends up stuck in a sinkhole.

- Cool Shades: In the ending, after cleaning up Penny's garden, Sam, Sarah, and James hang out by the pond wearing sunglasses.
- Distressed Dude: In a series rarity, Sam himself needs to be rescued; unstable grounds at Penny's cottage causes a sinkhole, which Sam falls down.
- Flowers of Femininity: Penny's new cottage is covered in ferns with little pink flowers. Later on, Trevor, Sarah, and James bring along other kinds of flowers to plant in the garden.
- Foreshadowing: Dilys mentions early on that she watched a documentary about houses being built on unstable ground. Later in the episode, a sinkhole erupts at Penny's cottage.
- Supreme Chef: As a stark contrast to Elvis, Penny is shown to be an excellent chef.
